How do I get a library card?

Talk to a member of the staff at the desk to get an application. Anyone under 16 will also need to have an adult sign their application.

How do I find something to check out?

A card catalog tablet is available near the computers. The card catalog can also be accessed from our home page. Staff members will also be happy to help you find what you are looking for.

How do I check out materials?

Bring the materials you would like to the desk.  Up to 20 items can be checked out on an adult card, and 10 items can be checked out on a children’s card. Some items, like DVDs and ukuleles, can only be checked out on an adult card.

How much does it cost to check out a DVD?

DVDs are free to check out. Up to 5 DVDs can be checked out at a time.

How do I renew materials?

To renew materials, talk to a member of the staff at the desk, call us at 814-643-0200 or go online. Books can be renewed twice; DVDs cannot be renewed.

Items that can be renewed will now auto-renew as long as there are no holds on the item.

How do I return materials I have check out?

Checked out materials may be returned inside the library at the circulation desk or dropped in the book return outside the building. Interlibrary loan books can be returned in the book return or bought to the desk by the date written on the slip that came with them.

What are the fines for overdue materials?

The Library went fine free on overdue materials on January 1, 2022.

How do I view my account information online?

To log in to see what you have checked out, see if you have any fines, or to renew materials, click on the “My Account” button in the upper right hand corner of our home page.

Your log in information is your card number.

Your new card PIN is the last four digits of your phone number. This can be changed online. (note: If your card was created in before 2017, your PIN number is the last four digits of your card number).

How do I log on to the computers?

Our computers are self service. You can log in by entering your library card number without the spaces.

Our computers offer several basic programs, including web browsers, word processing, and a spreadsheet program.

You can also print from the self service computers. The cost to print is $0.25 a page for black and white printing and $0.50 a page for color printing.

How do I request something that’s not in the catalog?

We can request books we don’t have from other libraries through the Interlibrary Loan system. You can fill out an interlibrary loan request form on our website in the Quick Links dropdown or at the circulation desk.

Interlibrary loan requests typically arrive in two to four weeks after the request is processed.

We cannot currently request DVDs, audiobooks, or books released in the last six months.

How do I check out e-books and other electronic materials?

We lend e-books and other electronic materials through cloudLibrary.

Go to the E-books tab of our website at www.huntingdonlibrary.org. From there you can browse and check out e-books, e-audiobooks and other electronic resources in a variety of formats. These materials automatically return at the end of their checkout period. Your log-in information will be your card number.

How do I reserve a room for a meeting?

We are currently unable to provide meeting space due to COVID-19 precautions.
